FORMER PRESIDENT SAM RAINSY

sam_rainsy_proLauk Sam Rainsy has been the main challenger to the Prime minister Hun Sen for decades. He led CNRP to win 55 parliamentary seats in 2013. On February 11, 2017, he resigned from the CNRP for “the sake of the party”. “In all circumstances I continue to cherish and to uphold the CNRP’s ideals in my heart,” Lauk Sam Rainsy wrote on his FB. As a GCRL Honorary Member, he stated: “The proposed amendment to the political parties law clearly shows the difference between the Rule of Law that I am fighting for and the ‘law of the ruler’ pursued by Hun Sen”.

PRESIDENT KEM SOKHA

kem_sokhaFounder of the Human Rights Party, a parliamentarian, and a human rights leader who was imprisoned by the Cambodian government in 2006 for championing freedom of expression in Cambodia. Advocate for equal social and economic opportunities for citizens of Cambodia and political tolerance through non-violent force at grassroots level. “No Khmer is an enemy.” He served as the Minority Leader, the highest ranking opposition parliamentarian, of the National Assembly from December 2016 to January 2017. ENG CHHAY EANG, CO-VICE PRESIDENT

Eng Chhay EangEng Chhay Eang has been an outspoken against the human rights abuse and violation in Cambodia. As an opposition lawmaker, he is currently serving as the head of the assembly’s human rights commission in the National Assembly. He was a former Secretary of Sam Rainsy Party. As a closed associate to LP Sam Rainsy and LAP Kem Sokha, Mr Eang was one of the core members of opposition party seeking unity among all Khmers both internally and internationally. MU SOCHUA, CO-VICE PRESIDENT

socA mother of three children. In 2005, she received the Leadership Award in Washington, DC, from the Vital Voices Foundation, co-founded by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. A Nobel Peace Prize nominee, is one of the most prominent women in Cambodian politics. For over 20 years, she has been at the forefront of her country’s efforts for democratic reform, free elections, and human rights.

POL HAM, CO-VICE PRESIDENT

Pol HamPol Ham is known for being a friendly politician. As a opposition lawmaker, he serves as the head of the agriculture and environment commission of the National Assembly. Mr. Ham has been fighting against the development of the 108-megawatt Stung Chhay Areng dam and protecting forest for ethnic Chong families. YIM SOVANN, CHAIRMAN OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

yimYim Sovann is known for his calm but effective and motivational public speeches. A spokesman, an influential opposition party lawmaker, having been elected since 1998 to the present. He was also the Chairman of Commission on Interior, National Defense, Investigation, Anti-Corruption, and Civil Service Administration from 2005 to 2008 in the National Assembly of Cambodia. YEM PONHEARITH, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF ADMINISTRATION

yesA spokesman for the Cambodia National Rescue Party, the main election challenger to the CPP, said Mr. Hun Sen’s constant reference to war and instability should there be an election upset amounted to psychological pressure on voters. “Change is not bad. Why don’t they look at change after elections in Thailand, the United States, France, Singapore and so on? It doesn’t bring the instability and chaos for countries,” Mr. Pon­hearith said.
